Bachelor of Information Technology (En)
The Information Technology Program at the University of Science and Technology seeks to prepare distinguished graduates scientifically and professionally, equipped with knowledge and skills in the specialization, as well as skills in scientific research and continuing education to keep pace with technical progress and meet the requirements of the labor market and social responsibility through a stimulating educational environment, efficient staff, developed curriculum, and modern laboratories, in accordance with quality standards and academic accreditation.
The IT program aim to:
- Provide students with the primary knowledge and skills of scientific and professional fields of information technology.
- Enable students to analyze and think critically to solve/present modern solutions for labor market and community needs.
- Acquire students with skills of continuous self-development, scientific research and innovations.
- Enable students to keep up to date with new technologies and transferable skills.
Information Technology (IT) is concerned with studying several areas that are related to user needs in various activities of computing technology. A program in Information Technology was established in 2011/2012 within the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology, University of Science and Technology. The program has been evaluated and enhanced twice before, and this is the third development of the program in 2021 to get better outcomes. It is designed to educate students about the current trends in IT that offer better potential for employment. At the same time, students will acquire the core knowledge needed for IT professionals and will have specific knowledge in specialized fields.
The program is structured as a set of core courses that increase students’ chances to find jobs and make careers. The most important development in the program plan focuses on cloud computing and applied data science, which provides students with up-to-date knowledge in these fast-growing fields. Moreover, the IT program supplements the local and regional community with well-educated and competent students by providing them with theoretical and practical knowledge in various areas of information technology, particularly in information technology management, programming, database, web application development, and software engineering, according to international standards, and training them on the latest information technologies that meet the requirements of the local and external labor market.
