The Financial and Banking Sciences Program is one of the important and distinguished programs and is offered under the Department of Accounting and Finance. The program was established in the academic year 2007/2008 and is currently considered one of the leading programs within the Faculty of Administrative Sciences.
Students enrolled in the program acquire solid theoretical and practical knowledge in the fields of financial and banking sciences, enabling them to perform efficiently and competently in the labor market.
Admission to the Financial and Banking Sciences Program is conducted in accordance with the University of Science and Technology (UST) regulations, bylaws, and the instructions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The program is supported by a qualified faculty and teaching assistants with extensive academic and professional experience.
Over the past years, the program has undergone comprehensive development based on sound scientific foundations and international benchmarks consistent with regional and global practices. This development included restructuring the program’s overall framework through the participation of a number of specialists in financial and banking sciences, accounting, and business administration, and in alignment with the accreditation standards set by the Yemeni Ministry of Higher Education. During the development process, extensive benefit was drawn from expertise in academic accreditation through the implementation of several workshops and training courses related to program development and intended learning outcomes, following a specific methodology based on the academic program description models adopted by the Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance Council for Higher Education in the Republic of Yemen, in addition to benchmarking against similar programs at six accredited regional and international universities.
The Financial and Banking Sciences Program seeks to provide distinguished educational and research services in the fields of financial and banking sciences in accordance with local, regional, and international standards, in a manner that meets development requirements and the needs of the local and regional labor market. This is achieved through the provision of an appropriate educational and research environment, a distinguished academic staff, and an advanced curriculum, all in line with the principles of total quality standards.
The Financial and Banking Sciences Program aims to achieve the following objectives:
- Providing students with the knowledge and skills relevant to the field of financial and banking sciences.
- Developing students’ intellectual capacities related to the financial and banking domain in order to enhance their personal and professional growth.
- Equipping students with professional and practical skills related to financial and banking principles, standards, and procedures.
