Islamic Studies Program
The Islamic Studies Program at the University of Science and Technology (UST) seeks to prepare qualified professionals equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills, and to provide research and consultative services in the field of Islamic Studies in a manner that meets labor market needs and serves the community. This is achieved through a competent academic staff, an advanced curriculum, and a distinguished learning environment, while employing modern educational methods and technologies in accordance with quality assurance and academic accreditation standards.
The Islamic Studies Program was established concurrently with the founding of the University of Science and Technology (UST) in 1994. As the program is now offered by only a limited number of universities, this constitutes a distinctive advantage of the Islamic Studies Program at UST.
The program is distinguished by the following features:
- Integrating practical training with theoretical study through fieldwork, the inclusion of a course on teaching methodologies, and the establishment of a Sharia consultation clinic.
- A study plan developed by experts from the University of Science and Technology in collaboration with scholars from prestigious public universities.
- Modern curricula and textbooks published by the University, developed in accordance with high quality standards, appropriate to undergraduate students’ capabilities, aligned with global curriculum development requirements, and responsive to labor market needs.
- Availability of postgraduate studies (Master’s degree) in the same specialization at the University with reasonable tuition fees.
- The presence of a dedicated Islamic Studies library at the female campus, comprising both print and electronic resources and encompassing classical and contemporary sources and references, thereby enhancing the students’ research and academic competencies.
The program seeks to prepare outstanding students endowed with high-quality research expertise in Islamic sciences by providing them with specialized knowledge and the necessary research skills to achieve academic excellence. This is realized through a specialized academic staff, an appropriate learning environment, and the optimal utilization of knowledge and research in light of societal values and needs, in accordance with academic accreditation standards.
- Preparing specialized academic competencies in the fields of Qur’anic exegesis (Tafsir), Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh), and Hadith studies in accordance with labor market needs.
- Providing students with the essential knowledge in the field of Islamic Studies.
- Enabling students to engage with the primary sources of Islam based on sound principles of scholarly derivation and to apply them in practical contexts.
- Contributing to the dissemination of authentic Islamic concepts in ways that positively impact the upbringing of future generations and enhance community awareness.
