Sana’a – Dr. Abdul Salam Halboub, a Yemeni researcher and faculty member at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Science and Technology (UST), has achieved a distinguished scientific accomplishment through his participation in an international team of researchers in preparing and publishing a global scientific study entitled:
Global burden of enteric infectious diseases, diarrhoeal diseases, and corresponding aetiologies, 1990–2023: A Systematic Analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2023.
The study was published in The Lancet Infectious Diseases, one of the world’s leading specialized medical journals in the field of infectious diseases, ranked in the first quartile (Q1) with an impact factor of 31.0.
This study is considered one of the most significant outcomes of the Global Burden of Disease 2023 project. It provides a comprehensive systematic analysis of the burden of enteric infectious diseases, diarrhoeal diseases, and their causes across 204 countries and regions worldwide over the period from 1990 to 2023. It contributes to the provision of accurate scientific data that supports the development of health policies and strengthens prevention and disease control efforts.
The Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at UST expressed its pride in this distinguished scientific contribution, affirming that it reflects the active engagement of the University’s researchers in leading international research projects. It also highlights the high level of scientific competence and research expertise demonstrated by faculty members and researchers at the University of Science and Technology.
