Graphic design and multimedia program
The Faculty of Computing and Information Technology was established in 2011 to fulfill the local and regional market needs. It consists of three undergraduate departments with nine BSc programs, MSc, and Ph.D. Programs in Computing. These programs were established based on the labor market needs and maintaining the international standard of excellence.
The program is aimed to provide students with sufficient knowledge, practical experience, skills and competencies in graphic design and multimedia areas considering the industry standards, ethical issues, and the local and regional marketplace needs. The program prepares students to develop ideas and visual solutions based on creative, critical and analytical thinking as well as it provides them with technical and professional competencies needed to complete 2D/3D real-life projects and interactive multimedia solutions through a variety tools and applications. Graduates may work in advertising agencies, radio and television stations, film industry, web and game design firms, publishing companies, printing presses, magazines and daily newspapers, various universities and institutions, freelancing or they can be self-employed.
Providing a high-quality education in graphic design and multimedia fields that meets the local and regional marketplace needs through providing a sound curriculum, adequate equipment, well-qualified faculty members, and a motive academic environment as well as supporting creativity, innovation, critical analysis, and continues learning as a corner stone in design.
The program aims to:
- Provide students with a solid knowledge and understanding of principles, concepts and techniques related to graphic design and multimedia.
- Assist students combining critical and creative thinking with technical skills to develop imaginative, appropriate and effective visual solutions considering social, cultural, environmental, ethical, and aesthetic issues.
- Empower students with to abilities to design, implement, and develop real-life projects using 2D and 3D design techniques with effective sound and visual effects.
- Equip students with research, lifelong learning, teamwork skills, and critique experiences to excel in the graphic design and multimedia discipline.

Graphic Design and Multimedia (GDM) program is one of the recent and demanding programs nationally and internationally. The program was established by The International College in 2004 in partnership with UiTM university, and the first development was in 2013. The new version of GDM program development is needed due to the rapid grow in graphic design and multimedia technology as well as the labor market needs and expectations.
A. Knowledge and Understanding:
Upon successful completion of the undergraduate Graphic Design and Multimedia Program, the graduates will be able to:
A1. Show in-deep understanding of concepts, principles, and theories of graphic design and multimedia, and the related basic and general sciences.
A2. Demonstrate a sound knowledge of the design process for effective visual design development from the initial step of sketching to the final product in harmony with the best visual and audio effects.
B. Cognitive/ Intellectual Skills:
Upon successful completion of the undergraduate Graphic Design and Multimedia Program, the graduates will be able to:
B1. Analyze complex visual problems to identify substantial solutions using imagination, creativity and principles of graphic design and multimedia.
B2. Combine efficiently and professionally theory, practice, and critical thinking and analysis to provide effective design and multimedia solutions.
C. Practical and Professional Skills:
Upon successful completion of the undergraduate Graphic Design and Multimedia Program, the graduates will be able to:
C1. Employ sophisticated media, tools, techniques, and technology in the creation, reproduction, and distribution of design and multimedia solutions.
C2. Design, implement and evaluate potential solutions within areas of graphic design, animation, and interactive multimedia design recognizing cognitive, cultural, ethical, and social issues.
C3. Apply design principles and concepts to develop real-life projects that meet client’s needs, ethical issues, and industry expectations through combining creativity, design techniques and multimedia tools in an effective way in response to visual communication challenges.
D. General and Transferable Skills:
Upon successful completion of the undergraduate Graphic Design and Multimedia Program, the graduates will be able to:

- Multimedia Designer: has the skills of developing and implementing multimedia systems.
- Technical: has the skills of using graphic design & multimedia tools and technologies with proficiency.
- Professional: committed to professional responsibilities (including social, legal, ethical, and cultural issues) in graphic design & multimedia practices.
- Communicator: has the skills of communication and negotiation in different context.
- Collaborator and Manager: has the skills of working as individual and as team member or team leader in different positions.
- Researcher and Self-learner: committed to Lifelong Learning and has the research skills.

- Student attendance should not be less than 75%
- Students will graduate when successfully passing all program requirements set by the academic affairs at the university.
- Students should complete 134 credit hours with a grade of at least 50 for each course.
- Students should successfully pass the Field Training and the Graduation Projects Courses
