Sana’a – The Department of Electronic Engineering at the University of Science and Technology (UST) has kicked off its annual field training program for final-year Mechatronics students, as part of its strategy to strengthen practical application and align academic outcomes with labor market needs.
The program is designed to provide students with hands-on experience using advanced industrial equipment and systems, while familiarizing them with real-world work environments in leading factories and companies. This initiative also aims to guide graduation projects toward market demands and foster stronger partnerships between the university and the industrial sector.
The first visit took place at United Dairy and Food Industries Ltd. (Nana), where students were welcomed by Plant Manager Eng. Anwar Abdulwahab. The tour included an overview of the factory’s main departments and production stages, followed by a close-up look at production lines, operational processes, and food manufacturing systems. Students observed machinery and equipment in action and received detailed explanations from company engineers on electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
The visit concluded with an interactive Q&A session, enriching students’ understanding of industrial operations. Eng. Ahmed Dubeis, Mechatronics Program Coordinator, expressed his gratitude to the factory management for their cooperation and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between the university and industry.
This year’s training plan includes visits to major factories and projects in Al-Hodeidah Governorate, such as:
